Platforms A1 to A4 at Chatham Waterfront Bus Station close 7pm Thursday 29 October to 6am Saturday 31 October for resurfacing. Nine routes move stop.
Four platforms at Chatham Waterfront Bus Station will close from 7pm on Thursday 29 October until 6am on Saturday 31 October. The closure is for resurfacing.
Platforms A1 to A4 are affected. Nine routes that normally leave from them will use other stops in the bus station instead, including buses to Lordswood, Walderslade, Wigmore, Frindsbury, Upnor and the Hoo Peninsula. Medway Council announced the change on Monday.

The council says signs and notices will be up around the bus station to point people to the right stop.
Why the platforms are closing
The road surface is being replaced after a diesel fuel spill. The council’s scheme notice puts the work itself on the nights of Thursday 29 and Friday 30 October, 8pm to 5.30am, on the eastern side of Globe Lane next to The Paddock. Temporary traffic lights go up at Globe Lane and Dock Road. The platforms stay closed through the Friday daytime in between, which is why the moves run for 35 hours.
What it means for you
If you catch one of these buses from Chatham on Thursday evening or at any time on Friday, go to the new stop rather than your usual one.
All nine routes should be back on platforms A1 to A4 from 6am on Saturday 31 October. The council’s release does not mention any change to timetables, only to where buses leave from.
The release names only platforms A1 to A4. For timetables, the council keeps a bus travel page. For road closures across the towns this week, see our Medway roadworks and travel page. If you are heading into town by car instead, our guide to parking in Medway has the Chatham car parks and charges.
